Monument Design Tips

Monuments are designed to tell the story of a life lived. Ranging from simple date scrolls to the finest granite statues, our designers craft personalized monuments as unique as the individuals they represent. When designing a monument, it is important to consider the colour, finish, inscription, and size.

Material Selection

There are many different colours, finishes, and shapes of granite to choose from when designing your memorial. Light-coloured granite, like grey and pink, come in a polished, shiny finish or steeled, which is a more natural finish. Darker polished granite, such as black, green, red, and others, will allow for more contrast in your design when cuts are made. Engravings are designs carved into the granite. They can be personalized to reflect the person’s hobbies and interests.

Layout and Inscription Options

It is also important to think about layout and inscription. Would you like full names and dates or just the years? Is there a phrase you would like added to reflect your loved one? You’ll want to ensure that your memorial has a nice flow and story. If you have a family lot, you may want to consider where the other names will be added and leave appropriate space. All of these factors will help to determine what size is needed for your memorial while complying with the size regulations within the cemetery.

We encourage you to take a tour of our park and share inspirational photos with our team so we can bring your monument vision to life and provide you with a quote. Check out more tips on how to start the memorial process.
